Godine

Hej, vintern vill inte riktigt släppa taget om alperna. Förlåt att jag tjatar. Jag har egentligen inget emot det. Jag gillar ju snö och vinter men… I helgen var hela byn snötäckt, tänk i början på maj. Inte direkt vanligt. Vi tog en promenad igår och värmen börjar långsamt komma tillbaka. Värme och värme, nåja vi pratar plusgrader här. Vi tog en promenad till Marbachquelle, dit vi ofta tar oss med våra mountainbikes.

Hello, the winter does not really want to let go here in the Alps. Sorry for posting more pics, but it’s so beautiful. And I love snow and winter but… And last weekend the village was covered in snow, beginning of May. Not that common. We went for a walk yesterday and it’s starting to warm up. Well, it’s not really warm but it’s plus degrees. Happy for that! We took a walk to Marbachquelle, were we take our mountainbikes on a regular basis.

Men vi har nu lämnat snön bakom oss och har kommit till medelhavet. Närmare bestämt vår favorit, nästan så att jag kallar Porec också för hemma nu. Vi håller ju till i Istrien, halvön i norra Kroatien. Det tar ca 3 timmar att åka hit. Sååå smidigt! Känslan är härlig när man närmar sig gränsen till Kroatien och ser medelhavet på ena sidan och böljande kullar på andra sidan. Luften är annorlunda här, man känner doften av saltvatten. Och skönt att komma hit off-season. Leva lite som en äkta sydeuropé. Nu har vi checkat in på vårt hotell och det blev med fin havsutsikt, på översta våningen. Dock är det lite kallt här, ca 17-18 grader, så tror nog inte att det blir något bad. Men njuta skall vi i alla fall!

Now we have left the snow behind us and are now at the Mediterranean Sea. To our home town, almost anyway, Porec, Istria, north Croatia. It only takes 3 hours to drive here so easy! And the feeling is great when we are getting close to the Croatian border and can see the Mediterranean in one direction and the hills in the other. The air is different! And nice to be here off season. Living life as a true southern European. Now we have checked in at our hotel and we do have this lovely view, from the top floor. However, it’s still cold here approx 17-18 degrees, so don’t think I will go swimming.

Innan vi checkade in åt vi en lätt lunch på en av våra favoriter, en restaurang som ägs av en fiskarfamilj, där blev det nyfångade pilgrimsmusslor. Här serveras det nästan alltid i sitt skal och måste skäras loss precis som med ostron. Olivolja, ja det slösar man med här nere. Och tillagningen behöver inte vara svårare än så här. Grillad direkt i skalet med vitlök, olivolja och lite persilja. Gott! Riktigt gott!!

Vi kommer att vara här i 12 dagar och beroende på vädret får vi se vad vi gör. Men det blir “The Croatian Way” vilket är ingen plan är den bästa planen. Och hänga med kompisar! Kul!! Du får naturligtvis följa med. Nu skall jag vila ryggen då jag tog ut mig lite igår. Var till och med tvungen att ta en värktablett, äsch. På återhörande! Ciao Catharina

Before check-in we had a light lunch at one of our favorite places, owned by a fisher family, and today they had scallops as the catch of the day.. Down here they are normally served in its shell, and you have to cut it loose, as you do with the oyster. The olive oil is a commodity here. Me like! And it doesn’t need to be more complicated than this! Grilled in its own shell with garlic, olive oil and some parsley! Yummy!!

We are staying here for 12 days and depending on the weather we will plan what to do. Doing it the Croatian way… no plan is the best plan. Spending time with friends, of course. And I will share what we do. Now I will rest my back a bit, I did to much yesterday. Needed to take a pain killer, not too happy about that. See you! Ciao Catharina
