Leipzig.

Hej, vi gjorde vår vanliga trip för att byta däck på bilen för några veckor sedan. Här i Österrike (liksom i flera andra europeiska länder) är det lagstadgat att byta mellan sommar- och vinterdäck. Vi hade planerat att åka till Hamburg samtidigt men av olika anledningar blev det inte av, men vi gjorde en dagstur till Leipzig istället. Kul att göra utflykter i närområdet. Till Leipzig är det det knappt 20 mil. Kolla här på lite utflykter som vi gjort. 

Hello, we did our usual trip to Germany to change our tires a couple of weeks ago. You know, here in Austria (as well as in Sweden and many other countries in Europe) it is mandatory to change between summer and winter tires. We had planned to go to Hamburg for a couple of days as well, but the plans were changed. But we did a day trip to Leipzig instead. I like these day trips. Leipzig is almost 200 km away. Check out here some other tips we have been doing. 

Första stoppet blev Panometer Leipzig, en fd gasklocka från 1910, där konstnären Yadegar Asisi har gjort en helt fantastisk installation. I en skala på 1:1 i världens största 360 panorama levandegör han olika händelser i världhistorien. I denna utställning i Leipzig är det Titanic och dess undergång 1912 som visas upp.  

First stop was Panometer Leipzig, a former gasometer from 1910, where the artist Yadegar Asisi have done a awesome installation. On a scale of 1:1 in the worlds largest 360 panorama he is making magic of different historical events. In this exhibition in Leipzig it is Titanic and the 1912 maritime disaster.

Vi gick in i den stora gasklockan och i mitten klev vi upp i ett torn. Och där blev vi helt hänförda! Stillsam musik spelades och det var först ganska mörkt... 

We went inside the big gasometer and in the middle we climbed up in a tower. And then we got exalted. Quiet music was playing and in the beginning it was rather dark... 

Det kändes som om vi satt i en ubåt. Plötsligt tändes ljuset och vi blev alldeles stumma.

It feelt like we were sitting in a submarine. And all of a sudden the light went on and we got completely silent.

One floor down.. 

Yadegar Asisi använder digital bildframställning från bilder och konstverk för att livliggöra både nuet och historiska händelser. Vi var här i nästan en timma. Helt otroligt!! Han har utställningar på flera platser i Tyskland och i andra länder. Kolla här! Rekommenderar varmt!! Utställning fick också en Red Dot Award 2017, "Best of the Best". 

Yadegar Asisi is using digital image processing bringing photography and painting closer together on events of today as well historical events for us to see in this unique way. We were here for almost an hour. Unbelievable!! There are exhibits in other places, both in Germany and in other countries. Check it out here! Can strongly recommend a visit!! This exhibition also got the Red Dot Award 2017 "Best of the Best".

Sedan åkte vi till centrum och gick runt där ett par timmar. Fick dock inte riktigt grepp om staden och svårt att hitta fina miljöer att fota. Mycket var under renovering. Men intressant historia, kolla här, och blev efter andra världkriget en del av forna DDR, och en av dess viktigaste städer.

Then we headed to the city center and walked around here for a couple of hours. But didn't really got a grip on the city and difficult to find interesting or beautiful sights. And a lot of things was under construction. But the city do have a very interesting history, check it out here. After the second world was the city became part of former DDR and was one its most important cities. 

Vi tog en kaffe på Mephisto, precis som Goethe. Men vi satt ute i passagen då man fick röka inne i cafeét, och där var det rökigt...

We took a coffee at Mephisto, just like Goethe. But we sat in the passage since it was allowed to smoke in the cafe, and it was a lot of smoke... 

En mysig utflykt, och bara besöket på Panometer var värt turen. Resten av tiden umgicks vi med familjen Noreik. Lika mysigt och avslappnat som vanligt! Och japp, vi åt varsin DDR glass. Sjävklart. Vi ses! Ciao Catharina

Still a nice excursion, and worth just the visit to Panometer. The rest of the time we just had a good time with the family Noreik. As always!! And yes, of course we had the DDR Ice. See you. Ciao Catharina
