Bröllopshelg. | Wedding weekend.

Hej, vilket vacker bröllop i Novigrad, Kroatien, för makens systerdotter Niki och hennes numera man Johan. Vädret var perfekt, över 35 grader, varmt absolut men skönt varmt. På bröllopsdagens på förmiddagen var det en ceremoni med helt fantastisk utsikt över havet. Jag var bröllopsfotograf och har flera fantastiska bilder från denna stund. Jag behöver välja ut, redigera och skicka dem. Gästerna var från överallt i Europa. Niki och Johan, som gifte sig, bor i Hamburg. Så en bladning av svenskar, tyskar, kroater, fransmän mm mm

Hi, what a beautiful wedding in Novigrad, Croatia, for my husband's niece Niki and her now husband Johan. The weather was perfect, over 35 degrees, hot absolutely but still nice. On the morning of the wedding day, there was a ceremony with an absolutely fantastic view of the sea. I was a wedding photographer and have several fantastic photos from this moment. I need to select, edit and send them. The guests were from all over Europe. Niki and Johan, who got married, live in Hamburg. So a mix of Swedes, Germans, Croats, French, etc., etc

Efter ceremonin var det ett par timmars paus och sedan åkte vi buss till Kozlovic, en vingård mitt i fantastisk vackra norra Istrien, Kroatien. Här var det typ vinprovning och charkuterier. Jag var reseledare på bussen och berätta allt jag visst och lite till om Istrien och Kroatien. Därefter var det en fantastisk middag på Stari Podium, men lite knas, men det tar vi en annan gång.

After the ceremony there was a couple of hours break and then we went by bus to Kozlovic, a vineyard in the middle of stunningly beautiful northern Istria, Croatia. Here it was like wine tasting and charcuterie. I was a tour guide on the bus and told everything I knew and a little more about Istria and Croatia. After that, it was a fantastic dinner at Stari Podium, but with some trouble, but we'll take that another time.

Njuter!! | Amazing!!

Hej, nu har vi varit här i Novigrad, Istrien, Kroatien i ett dygn. Och vad vi njuter!! Hotellet motsvara alla förväntningar och är helt fantastiskt!! Det var ett bra beslut att komma ett par dagar innan bröllopet och ta lite semester samtidigt. Jag insåg också under gårdagen att det är så skönt att bara vara åskådare. Det är mycket jobb att anordna ett bröllop på annan ort, i ett annat land. Allt kan hända, och mycket händer. Det enda jag skall göra är att fotografera imorgon fm på själva ceremonin. Lite nervöst men jag har med mig min Nikonkamera och min mobil. Mitt på dagen i 35 graders värme. Oj, det kommer att bli svettigt, ur flera perspektiv. Men nu har jag kollat in min kamera lite och i eftermiddag skall vi kolla in platsen för själva ceremonin.

Hello, we have now been here in Novigrad, Istria, Croatia 24 hours. And what a joy!! The hotel meets all expectations and is absolutely fantastic!! It was a good decision to come a couple of days before the wedding and take a little vacation at the same time. I also realized yesterday that it is so nice to just be a spectator. It is a lot of work to organize a wedding in another place, in another country. Anything can happen, and a lot does. The only thing I'm going to do is photograph tomorrow morning at the ceremony itself. I’m a bit nervous but I have my Nikon camera and my mobile with me. In the middle of the day in 35 degree heat. Ouch, it's going to be sweaty, from several perspectives. But now I've checked my camera a bit and this afternoon we'll check out the place for the ceremony itself.

Vi njuter i fulla drag! Allt är perfekt!! Vilar uppe på rummet för det är för varmt ute och jag vill inte heller exponera mig för för mycket sol. Alla fönster är öppna och en sval vind fläktar. Jag har hellre fönster öppna än att ha luftkonditionering.

We are enjoying ourselves to the fullest! Everything is perfect!! Resting upstairs in the room because it's too hot outside and I also don't want to expose myself to too much sun. All the windows are open and a cool breeze is blowing. I'd rather have windows open than air conditioning.

Jag jobbar med mitt standarduppdrag här också, helt ok. Nu inser jag plötsligt att det är ok att ha tillgång till jobb hela tiden. Vid poolen, i bilen eller vid lunchen. Jag har börjat på en ny bok som jag lånad av en av mina döttrar. Jag är inte mycket för sci-fi men hon har fått mig intresserad av böcker som rör och berör Lovecrafts värld. Perfekt läsning vid poolen.

I'm working on my standard assignment here too, totally fine. Now I suddenly realize that it is ok to have access to work all the time. By the pool, in the car or at lunch. I have started to read a new book that I borrowed from one of my daughters. I'm not much into sci-fi, but she's got me interested in books that relate to Lovecraft's world. Perfect reading by the pool.

Sommaren är tillbaka!!! | Summer is back!!!!

Jo, helt plötsligt kom sommarvärmen tillbaka! Så skönt! Jag som hade givit upp sommaren för detta året, alltså sommar med värme och sol. Så jag blev glatt överraskad och jätteglad när vädret vände och att vi nu har varmt ett par veckor till, åtminstone. Och ännu lite varmare blir det när vi åker till Kroatien nu på torsdag för att gå på bröllop. Det blir party i två dagar i varma sommarnätter. Och säkert roliga middagar, antingen på tu man hand med maken och/eller med hans stora och brokiga familj. Vi kommer denna gången att vara i Novigrad eller Cittanova som staden också heter i tvåspråkiga Istrien, som ligger strax norr om Porec, i Istrien. Vi har tidigare bara åkt igenom eller varit på korta besök för att äta middag i stan. Så nu blir det att upptäcka ett nytt ställe, kul! Vi har bokat in oss på ett riktigt härligt hotell; Palazzo Rainis och jag hoppas att det motsvarar förväntningarna. Så kommande vecka blir det till att njuta av sommarvärmen medans jag jobbar och fixar och sedan party party. Jag skulle egentligen har åkt på jobbresa till Dortmund men det blev för krångligt och för dyrt att resa dit för ett möte så min chef tar det mötet själv. Så det känns som att jag fick massa tid i veckan som kommer. Så skönt!! Så idag har jag inte gjort många knop, alls. Vilket har varit så skönt. Hade jag behövt åka på jobbresa hade både gårdagen och idag varit full med att saker att fixa. Jag behöver verkligen dagar som idag emellanåt. Det har jag alltid behövt, efter intensiva perioder, med jobb och/eller sociala aktiviteter. Så nu är jag fulladdad med energi. Men dagen är inte slut än så blir det ett 90 minuters Pelotonpass. Sedan blir det Crushed courgettes, ångad broccoli med kyckling till middag, och förmodligen ett glas iskallt och krispig Malvasia från vår nya favoritvingård Kadum, på vår terass. Hello, all of a sudden the summer heat came back! So nice! I had given up summer for this year, i.e. a warm summer without all rain. So I was pleasantly surprised and very happy that the weather changed and we now have a couple more weeks of warmth, at least. And it will be even a little warmer when we go to Croatia this Thursday to attend a wedding. There will be a party for two days on warm summer nights. And certainly fun dinners, either one-on-one with the husband and/or with his large and motley family. This time we will be in Novigrad or Cittanova as the city is also called in bilingual Istria, which is just north of Porec, in Istria. We have previously only passed through or made short visits to eat dinner in town. So now it will be fun to discover a new place! We have booked into a really lovely hotel; Palazzo Rainis and I hope it lives up to expectations. So next week I will be enjoying the summer heat while I work and fix and then party party. I would actually have gone on a work trip to Dortmund, but it was too complicated and too expensive to travel there for a meeting, so my boss takes the meeting himself. So it feels like I got a lot of time in the coming week. So nice!! So today I haven't done anything, more or less. Which has been so nice. If I had had to go on a work trip, both yesterday and today would have been full of things to fix. I really need days like today sometimes. I have always needed that, after intense periods, with work and/or social activities. So now I'm full of energy. But the day is not over yet, so there will now be a 90 minute Peloton session. Then there will be Crushed courgettes, steamed broccoli with chicken for dinner, and probably a glass of ice cold and crisp Malvasia from our new favorite winery Kadum, on our terrace. Nya kameraobjektiv. | New lenses for my camera.

Hej, nu när vi planerar vår resa till Namibia är det äntligen dags att investera i en, kanske två kameralinser. Jag har länge tänkt att investera i en vidvinkel samt ett teleobjektiv. Just nu funderar jag på en vidvinkel Nikkor 28mm 1.8 och en zoom på 70-300 mm. Vidvinkel för att fånga mer av landskapet, både när det gäller natur och i stad, samt en zoom för att komma närmare djur och natur. Jag har lånat ett teleobjektiv av min vän Lisa när jag varit i på safari, relativt lätt och stabilt att ta foton med. Det är Nikkor 70-300mm. Förmodligen köper jag en likadan. För jag vill ju kunna ta bilder som dessa när vi är i Sossusvlei, Namibia. Jag har ju lagt av lite att fota men det får bli en nystart…

Hi, now that we are planning our trip to Namibia it is finally time to invest in one, maybe two camera lenses. I've been thinking of investing in a wide angle and a telephoto lens for a long time. Right now I'm thinking about a wide angle Nikkor 28mm 1.8 and a zoom of 70-300 mm. Wide angle to capture more of the landscape, both in nature and in the city, as well as a zoom to get closer to animals and nature. I borrowed a telephoto lens from my friend Lisa when I was on safari, relatively light and stable to take photos with. It's the Nikkor 70-300mm. Probably I will buy the same. Because I want to be able to take pictures like these when we are in Sossusvlei, Namibia. I have put off a bit of photography, but it must be a fresh start...

Nu har jag äntligen börjat redigera alla bilder från vår Road Trip som vi gjorde förra året. Jag har massa fina bilder från vår safari, ja egentligen från flera av våra safaris, men nu blir det den från förra året med resten av våra resa. Det var längesedan jag gjorde en fotobok så prövar nu Once Upon. Men det mesta jobbet gör man ju i själva urvalet och sedan redigeringen av bilderna. Just nu har jag typ 2000 bilder så det blir flera omgångar med urval. Denna fotobok behöver jag har klar i mitten på september, allra senast. Att ta med till våra vänner.

Now I have finally started editing all the photos from our Road Trip we did last year. I have lots of nice pictures from our safari, yes actually from several of our safaris, but now it will be the one from last year with the rest of our trip. It's been a long time since I made a photo book, so now I'm trying Once Upon. But most of the work is done in the actual selection and then the editing of the images. Right now I have like 2000 pictures, so there will be several rounds of selection. I need to have this photo book ready by the middle of September, at the very latest, to bring with us to our friends.

Now I will prepare dinner for our Croatian friends who are coming here. See you! Ciao Catharina

Just nu är jag trött på... | Right now I'm tired of...

Hej, hur har du det? Har du lite senare semester eller har du börjat jobba? Jag jobbar lite och tar det lite lugnt också. Jag kände att jag behövde det efter den emotionella veckan förra veckan hos min vän och hennes familj. Men jag bockar av saker på min att-göra-lista, vilket känns jättebra. Så skönt att få sakerna på listan avprickad så kan jag koncentrera mig på arbetet i slutet på veckan och börja jobba ordentligt nästa vecka. Men just nu är jag dock ordentligt trött på…

…regn! Denna sommaren är riktigt trist här hos oss. Tja varför begränsa det till sommaren, även våren var trist. Riktigt trist. Regnigt och svalt. Och här i alperna blir det kallt uppe på 1000 meter över havet. Vi har faktiskt denna vecka haft två dagar utan regn, tjooo! Men nu kommer sämre väder (kan det bli det??) och i helgen blir det 14 grader. Jaja, sommaren regnar bort här hos oss. Det är som det är. Vi får hoppas att hösten och vintern ger oss fint väder!!

…att ha ont! Detta eviga onda i mina ben. Det är ju ryggen och min förbaskade Spinal Stenos. Nu har jag haft det i snart 10 år. Det är väl kanske bara att acceptera att jag kanske får ha det så här! När jag rör på mig lite mer är normalt så kommer värken. Och då pratar vi inte om långpromenader, tyvärr! Det känns som ström som går ner genom benen, nu mer i det vänstra benet. Ja, visst är det bättre än förra sommaren men hade hoppats på att operationen som jag gjorde i november skulle ha gjort det mycket bättre, men tyvärr. Så just ja, en av fördelarna med det dåliga vädret är att det blir träning på gymmet istället för att vara ute i naturen, där det är halt och vått. Så jag är lite optimistiskt i alla fall.

…koranbränningarna! Ja, vad säger man. Absolut att vi skall värna om demokratin. Det är superviktigt, och kommer att alltid att vara en av de viktiga grundstenarna i vår värld. Men det måste väl gå att tolka dessa bränningarna som hets mot folkgrupp eller något liknande så att detta kan stoppas.

Så nu har jag det sagt! Lite pessimistiskt inlägg men ibland så känns det skönt att klaga lite. Vi hörs! Ciao Catharina

Hi how are you doing? Do you still have vacation or have you started work? I work a little and take it easy too. I felt I needed it after the emotional week last week with my friend and her family. But I'm checking things off my to-do list, which feels great. So nice to get the things on the list ticked off so I can concentrate on work at the end of the week and then start working properly next week. But right now I'm really tired of…

…the rain! This summer is really bad here. Well, why limit it to the summer, even spring was dreary. Sad. Rainy and cool. And here in the Alps it gets cold at 1000 meters above sea level. We've actually had two days without rain this week, wow! But now worse weather is coming (is it possible??) and this weekend it will be 14 degrees. Well, the summer is raining away here with us. It is as it is. Let's hope that autumn and winter bring us good weather!!

…the pain! This eternal pain in my bones. It's the back and my damned Spinal Stenos. Now I've had it for almost 10 years. Maybe it's just to accept that I might have to have it like this! When I move a little more is normal the pain comes. And then we're not talking about long walks, unfortunately! It feels like electricity going down through the legs, now more in the left leg. Yes, of course it is better than last summer but had hoped that the surgery I had in November would have made it much better, but alas. But one of the advantages of the bad weather is that it’s easy to go to the gym instead of being out in nature, where it is slippery and wet. So I'm a bit optimistic anyway.

…the Koran burnings! Well, what to say. We must protect democracy. It is super important, and will always be one of the important cornerstones of our world. But it must be possible to interpret these burnings as incitement against ethnic groups or something similar so that this can be stopped.

So now I've said it! A bit pessimistic post, but sometimes it feels good to complain a little. See you! Ciao Catharina
