På safar i Sydafrika. | On Safari in South Africa.
Hej, nu är vi tillbaka på denna underbara plats!!! Här blåser det varma vindar och solen steker. Precis som man tänker att det skall vara på safari. Vi har, som vanligt, gjort morgonturer från ca 5.30-8.30 och sedan lite kortare eftermiddagsturer, varje dag. Vi har sett 4 av Big Five. Denna gången med massa noshörningar. På morgonturerna är det kallt, fastän det kryper uppåt 40 grader på dagen. Så både långbyxor, tröja och jacka samt filt behövs. Men endast fram till sju, sedan plockar man av sig plagg efter plagg. Om det är svalare på dagarna så behövs även handskar och mössa.
Hello, now we are back at this wonderful place!! Warm winds and hot sun. Exactly how you picture how it should be on a safari. We have, as usual, made a morning trip approx 5.30-8.30 am and a shorter trip in the afternoon, every day. We have seen 4 out of the Big Fice. This time a lot of rhinos. In the mornings it’s cold, even though the temperture is close to 40 degress celcius in the day. So both long troursers, jacket and a sweater plus a blanket is needed. But only to seven in the morning, then things starts to get hot. If the day temperature is lower than you will also need gloves and a cap.
För oss är safari inte bara att se Big Five. Lika mycket är det att bara sitta i bilen och njuta av doft, ljud och all vacker natur. Just nu är det försommar men torrt då det inte regnat på ett tag. Det är skumpigt och alldeles fantastiskt!! Denna gången har det varit bara jag och maken tillsammans med rangern Geoffrey.
For us the safari is not just The Big Five. It’s as much just sitting in the jeep and enjoy the smells, the sounds and the beautiful nature. Right now it’s beginning of the summer but very dry since it hasn’t been raining for a couple of months. It’s bumby and fantastic!! This time me and my husband has been the only once going for a drive, which has been fab.
Vi turas då om att sitta med Geoffrey och vi hör allt som pågår i parken på Intercom radion. Alla djur man ser ropas upp förutom noshörningar då de är eftertraktade för sina horn. Här har de speciella vakter som bara åker runt och jagar tjuvskyttar. Som en del av att ta hand om noshörningarna sågas hornen av då de inte längre är attraktiva att skjuta. Det tar ca 5-6 år för en horn att växa ut så då har de lite tid på sig att vara fredade.
We take turns to sit in the front seat. Here you hear clearly about what’s going on in the park. All animal sightings are communicated, except for the rhinos. Because of the horns and it’s afroediac effects, or so many believe. The whole animal is killed just for the horn. Here they have special guards who tour the park searching for the poachers. The horn is here removed so rhinos are less attractive for the poachers. It takes about 5-6 years for the horns to grow out so they have a couple of years in peace.

En stor del av att åka på safari just här i Nambiti Private Game Reserve är att vi är tillsammans med våra sydafrikanska vänner. Som alltid med både nya och gamla vänner. Alltid lika kul!! Denna gången har jag pratat lite mer med Tracey, längst till vänster. Så glad och så entusiastisk person som sprider glädje och energi runt sig. Riktigt intressant att också höra om hennes liv då hon är uppvuxen i Zimbabwe. Vi ses igen i Johannesburg, då vi bor hos dem en natt.
A bit part of the reason why we like the safaris is also that here we have so much fun with our South African friends. And as always some new and some old. Always such fun time!! This time I have spent more talking to Tracey, furthers to the left. A happy and posivite person who gives a lot of energy. So interesting to hear about her life, born and raised in Zimbabwe. We will see each other in Johannesburg later next week, since we will stay with her for one night.

Bara så vackert!! Imorgon blir det lite djur också. Måste vara välja ut lite bilder först, pust!! Men hinner med det då killarna kollar på kvartsfinalen i rugby VM där Sydafrika spelar mot Japan. Sedan blir det en lite längre eftermiddagstur och kanske innan dess ett dopp i poolen. En riktigt mysig söndag helt enkelt!! Vi ses! Ciao Catharina

But do have time since the guys are watching quarter final in Ruby Worldcup; South Africa against Japan. Then a swim in the pool and a longer game drive this afternoon. So a really perfect Sunday!!
