Flachau. Kaiserwetter.

Happy Friday! Det går väl knappt att skriva något annat när man har det så här bra här hemma! Och idag var det lite extra kul för maken kunde till slut åkta lite skidor efter nästan 1 månads uppehåll. Alltid kul att åka tillsammans! Dessutom åkte vi ett litet gäng, jag och fyra grabbar. I detta inlägget får bilderna tala, så jag skriver inte så mycket mer! Ha en riktigt skön fredagkväll och bra helg! Vi får nya gäster, det är tänkt att det blir även skidor på tvären i helgen och kanske lite Skam på NRK. Har några inlägg planerade också; Hur man gör kefir samt Kroatien (kanske dags att börja planera sommarsemestern?) Så vi hör! Catharina

Happy Friday! Can't be any better than this at home, right! And today it was extra fun since my husband came with me out in the slopes. First time in 1 month, so he is getter better, slowly slowly. Always more fun to ski together! And with us came three friends as well, nice! And in this posting I will let the pictures show the beauty of the Alps! Have a really nice evening and a nice week-end! We are getting new guests, and I will ski both downhill and cross country and might have a look at the Norwegian serie Skam (that almost everyone in Swedish is watching and also started to talk some Norwegian). Need to watch in Norwegian (without subtitle since I can access it through the Swedish TV). Have also two postings planned; How to make kefir and Croatia (soon time to start planning the summer vacation). So see you soon! Ciao Catharina

Flachau. A farmer village.

Godmorgon! Idag blir det skidåkning en stund på förmiddagen! Kan ju inte sitta inne när vädret är perfekt. Och som jag skrev igår på bloggen kallas detta vädret för "Kaiserwetter"! Tar litet kort och delar med mig. För ni vill väl se hur vackert det är?

Tänkte dock innan jag sticker iväg bara visa er lite av Flachaus två sidor; bondby & turistort; kohage & skidpist. Jag tror att det är denna kombinationen som gör att jag inte tröttnar på Flachau, trots att den är såååå liten.

Good Morning! Today I will go skiing now in the morning. The weather is perfect, and as I wrote yesterday, it will be "Kaiserwetter" for a couple of days. I will take some photos and share with you. Of course you want to see it, right?

Before I hit the slopes I just wanted to show you the two different sides of Flachau; farmer village & ski resort, pasture & ski slope. And I think this is why I never get tired of this little tiiiiny village. It is a fantastic combination.

Och Flachau är fullt av bondgårdar. Och vilka fina bondgårdar! Tänkte ta lite kort och visa er lite senare. Vi åkte förbi en som hade öppnat upp ena väggen så kossorna fick sol när det var fint väder. Är inte det snällt?

And Flachau is full of farmhouses. And they are really really nice! I will walk around the village this week and take some photos are share with you. The other day we went by one that had open one of the sides of the farmhouse so the cows could stand in the sun and it. Is that nice?

Hos bonden på vår gata kan man köpa färsk mjölk och färska ägg. De har ordnat fiffiga automater så det är bara att gå dit och köpa. Och vad gott det smakar!! Tala om ekologiskt och närproducerat!!

At the farmer down our street you can buy fresh milk and egg. You just insert the coins in the automate and then you get it fresh of the day. And it is sooo tasty!! And organic and near produced!!!

Mjölken får själv hälla i pet-flaskor, som finns att köpa eller så tar man med sig sin egen flaska. Äggen ligger färdiga i äggkartongen.

The milk you poor into pet-bottles, that you can buy or you bring your own. The eggs you get in the carton.

Använder mjölken i min kefir! Mums!! Vi ses senare i veckan! Catharina

My new hoods.

Hej, tänkte börja med en liten serie inlägg om mitt nya hem. Det är ju en stor omställning att flytta från en storstad till en liten alpby (och dessutom att ha varit mer eller mindre varit på resande fot varje vecka runt om i Europa i flera års tid till att vara på en plats hela tiden och att ha jobbat för ett multinationellt företag till att starta upp en egen liten låda). Men jag börjar med Flachau, Pongau och Salzburgerland (som byn, området och landskapet heter)...

Hello, I will start to write about my new home. It is a rather big change to move from a big city to a small alp village (and from have been travel every week in Europe for many years to be at one place the whole time and to go from working for a multinational company to start your own business). But I will start with Flachau, Pongau and Salzburgerland (the village, the area and the landscape) ...

Idag var det en helt fantastisk dag! Var vid kabinbanan precis när den öppnade 8.30. Åkte ensam då maken inte kan åka än och kände inte för att ha annat sällskap. Och det var precis så härligt som det ser ut på bilderna.

Today was an absolutely fantastic day in the slopes! Was ready to take the cabinway when it opened at 8.30. Went alone since my husband aren't allowed to ski yet and didn't feel for any other company. And it was as beautiful as you can see on the photos.

Sol ovanför molnen och -10 grader. Snön knarrade och iskristaller flög runt och bildade guldskimmer i solen!! Och nästan ensam i pisten!! Det kan väl inte bli bättre än så här?

Sun above the clouds and -10 degrees. The snow creaks and ice crystals are flying around and are looking like gold shimmer in the sun! And almost alone in the slopes!! Can it get any better then this?

Kommer från och med denna veckan att ge er 1 inlägg i veckan om Flachau; skidområden runt omkring, bästa apreski-ställena, bästa restaurangerna i backen och i byn, bästa barhäng i backen och i byn, bästa lumumban i backen, bästa spa:t, bästa hotellen, bästa veckorna att åka på skidsemester, skidmärken som är mest inne mm mm och hur man träffar en skidlärare haha Skriv gärna i kommentarsfältet om det är något mer ni vill veta... Jag kommer säkert på fler saker att lista...

Will from this week and on-ward write 1 posting a week about Flachau; the ski area in general, best apréski places, best restaurants in the slopes and in the village, best bars in the slopes and in the village, best lumumba in the slope, best spa, best hotel, best weeks to go skiing, most fashionable ski clothes brands this season etc etc and how to meet a ski teacher, haha... Please write if there is anything else you want to know... I'm sure I will come up with other things as well to list...

Och nu skall vi snart gå ut för att titta på FIS kvällsslalom för damerna som går av stapeln här i Flachau ikväll. Ni kan se tävlingarna och Flachau på SVT, tror jag. Måste ju heja på Frida Hansdotter som leder efter först åket!!! Rena rama partyt! Här är är det över -15 grader så vi kommer att klä oss varmt. Tar med min systemkamera och hoppas att den tycker om kylan och hoppas visa er några bilder imorgon. Vi ses då! Catharina

And now we will soon go out to have a look at the second run on the FIS nightslalom for ladies here in Flachau. Have to support the Swedish girl Frida Hansdotter who is number 1 after the first run!!! A big competition and party!! Here it is over -15 degrees so we need to dress really warm. I will take my camera with me and I hope it will work in the cold, and I will show you some photos tomorrow. See you then! Ciao, Catharina

När dagen gryr i alperna. | When the day dawns in the Alps.

Godmorgon, hade inte tänkt att ha ett inlägg idag också men det är så vacker att se hur morgonen gryr från vårt köksfönster, och ville dela detta med Er. Kabinbanan över skidpisten börjar gå vid kvart i åtta, men pisterna öppnar inte förrän halv nio. Här ser ni utsikten bort mot dalen.

Good Morning, had not planned to have a posting today but it was so beautiful to see the day dawn this morning from our kitchen window, and I wanted to share this with you. They start to run the cabelway quarter to eight but the lifts open at eight thirty. And here you can see the view over the valley.

Och till slut är hela dalen fylld av sol och "vår" backe är full av skidåkare! Ha en fin dag! Catharina

Snow. Sun. Blue Skyes.

Hej, nu är det tomt i huset! Familjen åkte hem nu på morgonen. Det är så mysigt att ha alla här och vi njuter av att vara tillsammans. Vi skulle ha kompisar från Kroatien hos oss över nyår, men vi ställde in då maken fortfarande är sjuk. Svårt & tråkigt beslut, men tyvärr helt rätt. Nu blir det vara vi två. Mysigt ändå, får jag säga...

Hello again! Now it is empty in the house. The family went back home this morning. It is so nice to have everyone here!! We were going to have friends from Croatia coming this afternoon to celebrate New Years with us, but since my husband is still sick, we unfortunately needed to cancel. Sad but necessary decision. Now it will only be the two of us, rather ok, actually!! We will invite our friends for another week-end, and make up for this cancellation...

Efter en mysig frukost men färskpressad juice, äggröra och gott bröd åkte de iväg till Salzburgs flygplats. Jag städade köket & vardagsrummet. Sedan tog jag och maken en mysig promenad i skogen bredvid oss. Min favoritsträcka här. Så vackert!

After a really nice breakfast with freshly squeezed juice and scramble eggs the family went off to Salzburgs airport. After cleaning the the kitchen and living room my husband and me took a walk. We have a beautiful path, just around the corner, in the wood which I love to walk. You can make it as short or as long as you want...

Vädret blir inte bättre än så här; snö, sol, blå himmel och imorse -15 men nu -2 grader.

Absolutely divine weather today and for the next four days!

Här ser ni en bild från vår tomt ut över backen, som ni ser verkligen ski-in&ski-out!! Därnere ser ni köerna till kabinbanan. Den kommande veckan är den mest populära på hela året, så MYCKET folk i backarna...

Here you can see a photo from our garden, overlooking the slope. It is a true skiin&ski-out location!!! You can also see all the people waiting for the cabine to go up the hill. This coming week is the most popular the whole season.

Uppe i backarna är vyn så vacker. Planerar att åka skidor själv imorgon innan backarna fylls med alla turister, typ mellan 8.30 - 10.00. Återkommer imorgon med mina nyårslöften. Vi ses då, eller hur? Hejdå, Catharina
