Korcula, Croatia, July 2018

Hej, alltså hur fantastiskt kan man ha det på en semester?? Helt fantastiskt!! Skall redigera bilder nu, blev drygt 300 men nu behöver vila upp lite först, hehe

Vi åkte hem igår, båt från Vela Luka till Split, vi var i Split vid halv tio och sedan bilade vi hem, strax över 75 mil. Mycket trafik, men det gick smidigit ändå. Vi stannade och åt lunch, ovanligt japp men vi hade bara packat en liten matsäck med det vi hade kvar i kylskåpet från hyrda lägenhet, och vi var hemma vid sex. Idag har vi städat båda stugorna och fått nya gäster. Men nu är vi trötta så jag skall mysa i sängen och kika på American Horror Story, är på första säsongen.

Hello, how fantastic can a vacation be?? I mean, incredible!! Will go through all the photos from the trip, approx 300 tomorrow, and of course share with you. But first I need a quiet Saturday evening. 

We came home yesterday. Boat from Vela Luka to Split, we arrived to Split at 9.30 and then we had approx 750 km. We stopped for a lunch (yes, out of style but we had not much food) and we were home at 18.00. Today we have cleaned both Chalets and new guests has arrived. But now we are tired to we will take a rest. I will watch American Horror Story, first season. Really good and really scary.

Glad midsommar. | Happy Midsummer.

Glad midsommar önskar jag dig!! Hoppas ni får en fantastiskt mysig dag trots det numera kalla vädret. Vår familj (har gällt både mina föräldrar, livet med min ex-man och med maken) har aldrig varit speciellt stora på traditioner och speciellt inte att göra samma sak från år till år. Vissa år kan vi fira riktigt som det ska och visa år firar vi ingenting. Och det gäller alla stora helger. Men visst känner man som svensk något speciellt när det är midsommarafton, oavsett om man är hemma eller inte. Så förra året köpte jag en midsommarstång att ha på bordet hemma, de åren som vi firar. 

Men i år får den stå kvar i skåpet då vi inte firar någon midsommar. Vi har åkt ner till Bosnien igår och här hälsar dels på svärmor och dels skall vi på bröllop i Sarajevo. Och japp, min 83-åriga svärmor har skaffat både wifi och padda så här kan jag nu vara online när det andra pratar och pratar och pratar (ja inte svenska eller engelska eller tyska utan kroatiska).

Happy Midsummer to you! Well, if you are not a Swede you might not understand the big thing, or? In Sweden we tend to celebrate all the big holidays on the Eve and not on the Day... i.e. Christmas Eve, Easter Eve, Midsummer Eve etc etc And midsummer is the same; i.e. a Friday every year around the 20th of June. Midsummer is bigger than Christmas, but in another way. I think it is the hope for a wonderful long summer with sun, bath and vacation. You can celebrate it both with family and/or friends. More party than Christmas, i.e. more alcohol, which is not always that positive. 

In our family; with my mother and father, my with ex-husband as well as with my husband we have all been the same; not that big with traditions. Some years we go all in and some years we do nothing. This goes for all big holidays. Feels rather revealing and so much less pressure on the fact that everything has to be perfect. But of course, midsummer will always be a holiday that you think about even though you are not in Sweden. And last year I bought this nice table decoration, for those years that we do celebrate midsummer, a really nice midsummer pole.

And this year my table decoration will remain in the cupboard. We are now in Zavidovici with my mother-in-law and today we will go to Sarajevo for a big wedding. And yes, my 83-year old mother-in-law have now wifi and and iPad, yieahh. So I can be online while the other are talking and talking and talking (not Swedish, English or German but Croatian).

Hemma igen. Fixar och myser...| Home again. Just relaxing...

Hej, idag har jag haft en riktigt skön dag. Allt har gått i ultrarapid och vad skönt. Har genom åren behövt att landa efter att ha varit ute och rest. Ibland har det yttrat sig i att jag har haft det extra rörigt ett par dagar, inte packat upp, ätit slarvigt och bara slöat. Ibland har det varit som idag då allt har gått extra långsamt men jag har fixat lite överallt; städat iordning i köket (maken har lite andra rutiner än jag), gett ny mjölk till mina kefirsvampar, ansat min pelagonier och bara plockat lite här och där. Samt planerat vad att göra, äta och handla den kommande veckan, innan nästa resa. Nu är maken och spelar tennis och jag tänkte kika på tv-serien Patrick Melrose och äta lite kefir. Vi ses! Hello, today have been a really relaxing day. Everything has been done in slow-motion and it's sooo nice to allow myself this. I have realized during traveling a lot previously that I needed to have an evening/day like this, just to come back home. Sometimes this has meant that I have been really messy for a couple of days, left the suitcase unpacked, eating not to healthy food and just done nothing. And sometimes like today when I have been fixing at home like giving my kefir mushrooms new milk, taking care of my geraniums, cleaned the kitchen (my husband don't have the same order as me hehe) and just fixing. Unpacking the suitcase and started a couple of machines with washing. And done the planning for what to do, buy and eat for the upcoming week, before the next trip. Now my husband is playing tennis so I will start watching the tv-series Patrick Melrose and eat some kefir. See you! Ciao Catharina

Hej, det är rena rama hjärngympan att vara ute och cykla, eller faktiskt att vara ute och röra på sig här nere i Alperna. Alla hälsar trevligt, oavsett var man är. Riktigt trevligt och välkomnande. Och mängden fraser här nere i Österrike är oändliga och det gäller att hålla reda på singular och pluralversionen också. Så det gäller att hålla tungan rätt i mun när man hälsar tillbaka. 

Hello, it is quiet a challenge to be out riding the bike, or actually to go to places here in the Alps. Well, not really true but since everyone is saying hello to everyone everywhere here you need to know how to reply. This is a very nice and welcoming way. I like it a lot. And the number of ways to say hello are almost endless. So you have to think a bit.. 

Och man blir förvirrad då man säger en sak och de andra svarar en annan. Men finns det variation så varför använda samma fras tillbaka? Fraserna ovan betyder Hej, goddag, hallå, hejdå & goddag i en salig blanding. Och inte så säker på att jag har stavat rätt på de tre sista fraserna. Har letat  och letat men hittade ingen vägledning så det får stå som de gör. Vet du?

And you will get confused since you seldom will get the same phrase back in reply to what you said. But since there are so many, why not to try to use them all? The phrases above means basically Hello, Good Day & Good Bye, in a good mix. Not sure on the spelling on the last three phrases. Have been searching but couldn't find any guidance. Do you know?

Och dagens runda blev vår standardrunda; Flachauwinkl. Lite förbi egentligen, fram till Tauerntunnel, så drygt 28 km fram och tillbaka. Hade fortfarande lite ont i kroppen från söndagens långpass så tog det lite lugnare, skönt! Hann se, lukta och känna allt runt omkring. Känslan just nu är som midsommar, försomrigt och så vackert. På återhörande! Ciao Catharina

And today's tour was our standard; Flachauwinkl. Well, a bit longer actually, back and forward a bit more then 28 km. A good everyday trip. I was still tired in my body from the long distance bike tour on Sunday so took it a bit easy today. Nice! And enjoy to watch, smell and look at everything around me. And the feeling now is almost like midsummer in Sweden, so beautiful! See you later! Ciao Catharina

Lite pyssel. | Taking care of.

Hej, i skrivande stund är Valborgsfirandet igång hemma i Sverige och här sitter jag och fixar. Just Valborg firas inte här nere i Österrike, inte så konstigt kanske men 1:a maj är en helgdag såsom i många andra länder i Europa. Tror dock inte att det går något demonstrationståg genom Flachau men helt säker kan jag inte vara, hehe Får kolla imorgon. 

Hello, right now there is celebration going in Sweden. We celebrate Walpurgis night with bonfires but not here in Austria, of course. But 1st of May is celebrated, as in many other European countries. But don't think there will be demonstration in Flachau, but not sure. Need to check tomorrow, hehe

Vi är nu hemma efter våra utflykter; söderut till Kroatien och sedan norrut till mellersta Tyskland. Och så mysigt att nu få landa i ett sommarvarmt Flachau. Vi har fortfarande snö uppe på topparna men det börjar smälta så långsamt. Har för första gången plockat i en magnoliakvist. Vi har tre träd i vår trädgård, två lila och en vit. Och imorgon kommer jag att plantera min nyinköpta dahliaknölar och så mina luktärtsfrön samt dahliafrön. Ser att mycket går i årets färg; lila. Kunde ju inte motstå att köpa dahlian som heter Gabriella, precis som min yngsta dotter... 

We are now home after our two trips. One going south to Croatia and one north to mid Germany. So nice to be at home again, in a summer warm Flachau. We still have snow on the top but it is starting to melt slowly. Have today for the first time brought a magnolia twig indoor. We have three trees in our garden; two lilac and one white. And tomorrow I will plant my newly bought dahlia knoll and also the sweet peas. And I can now see that almost all of them are in this years color; lilac. But couldn't resist to buy the dahlia with the name Gabriella, like my youngest daughter... 

Inser att vi har mycket fint i vår trädgård såsom fläder, körsbärsträd och hägg, vilket jag inte hade en aning om. Ja inte ens fläderns förrån en av våra kompisar kom för några år sedan och frågade om de fick plocka blommorna. Förra året gjorde jag hemmagjord flädersaft själv, och iår tar vi hand om alla blommorna, då maken dricker flädersaft som jag dricker kaffe, mao massor.  Den senare luktar gudomligt gott! Så efter alla år i huset så börjar mina ögon för trädgården öppnas, lite kul! Mina sticklingar som jag tog från mina pelagonier har nästan alla överlevt, kolla här när jag klippte ner mina pelagonier, men de får stå inne lite till. Frostnätterna kan ju fortfarande komma. Min pappas sekatör som är ett fint minne från mina kära pappa och hans kärlek till trädgårdar, blommor och träd. Den kommer numera väl till pass när jag plockar in saker från trädgård och skog och sätter i mina vaser. Köper numera bara undantagsvis snittblommor. 

Realize that we have a lot of very nice things in our garden such as elder shrub, cherry tree as well as bird cherry tree, which I have no idea that we had. Well, the elder shrub I found out a couple of years ago when our friends wanted to pick the flowers, hehe Well, last year we picked them and made elderberry juice and this year we will pick them all, since my husband drinks the juice as I drink coffee, i.e. a lot. My geraniums cuttings have survived, check it out here, but they have to stay indoor a little longer, frost nights can still come. And my fathers secateurs is a sweet memory of my father and his devotion to gardens, flowers and tree. And is now used on a regular basis. And I love to bring things in from outdoor, both from my garden as well as from the woods. Have basically stopped buying cut flowers. 

Så denna veckan blir det lite av varje. Lite fix inne och lite fix ute. Och just ja, deklarationsdags också. Dumt att göra den i god tid, eller? Vi får också besök i mitten på veckan så det blir lite städning och sedan mys med våra gäster. Och träning förståss.

Fick världens största granatäpple av våra vänner i Worbis så imorgon till frukost blir det min kefir och granola (båda hemmagjorda) tillsammans med blåbär och granatäpple. Mums. Både nyttigt och gott! 

Och nu blir det de två sista avsnitten av Wild Wild Country. Dokumentären om den indiska "sekten" som flyttade sin verksamhet till Oregon i USA i början/mitten på 80-talet. Jätteintressant men ger lite rysningar. Recension kommer i nästa vecka. På återhörande! Ciao Catharina

So this week we will fix with this and that, indoor as well as outdoor. And yes, in Sweden the deadline for the tax papers are due on Wednesday so need to hand in that too, but got plenty of time, right? And we will have some family coming to stay a couple of nights so need to clean the house a bit and then enjoy the company. 

Got the largest pomegranate from our friends in Worbis so tomorrow at breakfast I will eat my kefir with granola together with blueberries and pomegranate. Yummy. Both healthy and good!!

And now I will watch to last episodes of Wild Wild Country. A documentary about the Indian "sect"  in the 80' that moved to Oregon, US. Really interesting but give me chills. I will write more about in next week. See you later! Ciao Catharina
